Abstract

Credit distribution to various small enterprises based on certain economic sector, is expected to motivate the enterprising activities which are financed to be more produciive one of forms of the widely known credit is small enterprise credit. The KuK existence is expected to be the accelerator for regional economy development. Besides, in general, the economy performance is measured by the application of the Gross Regional Dornestic Product, namely, the higher the PDRB growth of one region, it can be said that the regional economy performance is relatively better. The problem is how big the influence of the KUK distribution toward the economy performance in one region. By using the data in 1993-1997, it can be recognized that the average economy growth in the West Sumatra is 7,33% where the dominant sector is electricity, natural gas and drinking water, mining and processing industries. Relativety bigger distribution of the KUK is the sectors of trade, restaurant, hotel, transportation, warehousing, communication, etc. Empirical finding result indicates that the composition of the KUK distribution is significantly influential toward the economy performance of the West Sumatra, however, there are other variables which affect the capabiliry of the small enterprises in supporting the whole economy performance, among others the marketing of production items, the raw material-availability and skill of small entrepreneurs in the business management. In the future, it is expected that the allocation and composition of the KUK distribution can be adapted and synergies with the strategic plan of the regional development in the West Sumatra as rvell as small regions below it in order to reach optimum result into the realization of the developmental targets which have been planed.
