Abstract

Paints are among the inventories kept in PT. Gaya Motor warehouse that will be used in the production process. Based on the observation, it was understood that various materials are overstocked. This is shown by the lower inventory turn over than planned. This research is aimed at evaluate the inventory management performance of PT. Gaya Motor and comparing it with benchmark industries. In general, it can be said that the PT. Gaya Motor’s inventory performance is relatively better than industrial benchmark. However, the company have set an ITO (Inventory Turn Over) of 3.33 per month which up to how has not been achieved. This research is also aimed to provide recommendations for better inventory performance. Two approach has been investigated i.e. minimum-maximum and blanket ordering policy. The research shows that blanket ordering policy provide better inventory performance result. This is shown by lower average annual inventory value which will lead to less inventory holding cost.
