Abstract

Workshop II of PT. Semen Padang (:PT. SP) is a fabrication shop which handle and also receiving some production orders for final assembly for production activity of PT. SP, usually called internal orders. On the one hand, workshop of PT. SP also receive the another orders from outside consumable, which called external orders. Many jobs which have to execute in workshop and also more external orders listed is needs the management roles to plan production scheduling better. This research purposes is to make job shop production scheduling with makespan minimisation criterion in workshop of PT. SP. Makespan calculation have been done as a quantitative measurement for evaluating results effectivity before and after scheduling was done. Samples of this research consist to three products, that Hooper for Poozoland, Ducting TAD 223780 and Ducting TAD from dust trap. Job shop scheduling method which are used on this research are Giffler Thompson heuristic algorithm, which compared to scheduling modules in Quant System (QS) software with simple priority dispatching, SPT. On the other hand, this research also involving the Random rules in Quant System as a comparison and makespan analyzing to SPT rules. Giffler-Thompson algorithm using active schedule (SPT) gives result for makespan (Cmax) for 989.64 hours. Using QS has outcome for makespan 853.04 hours and mean completion time (MC) for 501.11 hours for SPT tie-breaker. Schedulling efficiency using QS is for 11.70%. That result indicates to minimize operation time for 201.04 hours or for estimates about 26 days the workers time schedule at workshop of PT. SP. Keywords: scheduling, job shop, makespan
