Abstract

Vasectomy is one of the most effective contraception method Which is done with an amputation of sperma channel that connect penis with the scrotum. Low / inexistence of enthusiast of vasectomy shows lack of participtions and awareness of man in KB. The aims of this research was to get the description ofknowledge and attitude of men in fertile age couple (PUS) about vasectomy in Puskesmas Kumun work region Kecamatan Kumun Debat Kota Sungai Penuh Provinsi Jambi 2009. The research method was Descriptive with population amount to 1685 people that contents entire man of PUS that staying in Puskesmas Kumun work region. The research took place in Puskesmas Kumun work region Kecamatan Kumun Debai Kota Sungai penuh Provinsi Jambi from September 2008 to November 2009. Whereas the sampel used 10% of the population that was 169 respondents with of proporsional random sampling technique. Research instrument that used was kuesioner. From the result of the research found respondents with low knowledge were 122 people (72,2r/o), and respondents with negative attitude were 114 people (67,4%).considering the result, it is expected from the health offEcer and BKKBN can give broader counselling and information about vasectomy, PUS can look for informalion about vasectomy througlr massa medi4 PUS which do not wish more birth can use vasectomy as their contraception choice, and also perform a research of a kind about psychology aspect of vasectomy partrcip ant candidate.
