Abstract

Cesarean section is one of obstetric technique that has been increasing rate to terminate a delivery and it's the last choice to safe both of mother and her baby after considering that vaginal delivery is not feasible. A retrospective study has been done using descriptive methode in Dr. M. Djamil Hospital of Padang. The data is collected from Medical Record of Obstetric and Ginecology delivery room, from Januari I'tto December 3l't2005. The result shows that 24,17 o/o of all confinement process are by the means of caesarean section. Most percentage happened at the age of 20 to 35 years old which is 75,6%. Most parity are one to four which can be found in 190 cases (56,54%). Most indication to casarean section are panggul sempit which can be found in 92 cases Q7,38%) followed by drip failure in premature rupture membran which is in 52Zo cases (15,48%) and CPD which is in 42 cases (12,50%). Although casarean section is relatively safe thanks to the advanced technology but it is still necessary to execute this technique on the right indications, type, and when it possible to be done.
