Abstract

Nutrition anemia is one of nutrition problems in Indonesia and still become health problem in the community. The major cause of nutrition anemia in Indonesia is iron deficiency. Many factors influence the occurrence of anemia such as knowledge of nutrition anemia, education level, economic level and consumption of nutrition (protein, iron, vitamin C, vitamin A, infection and attitude). The other causes of iron deficiency anemia are increasing of body needs due to chronic diseases and blood lose due to parasites infection (worm) and menstruation. Iron deficiency anemia can cause decreasing of physical activity, productivity and cognitive ability. In Indonesia, worm diseases are still a major problem in iron deficiency anemia because worm sucks the blood 2-100 cc a day. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of Fe supplementation with and without worm drugs on hemoglobin level of anemic girl teenagers in Pondok Pesantren Tarbiyah Islamiyah Pasir Kec. IV Angkat Canduang. Study design is a quasi experimental. Research subjects were anemic girl teenager (Hb < 12 gr/dl) which were randomly divided as sample group such as supplement group Fe+ worm drugs (treatment) and supplement Fe group (control).Fe was given as 60 mg elemental iron and 0,25 ml folat acid once a day outside period and 3x1 /day inside period. Worm drugs were given before administration of Fe supplement on treatment group with single dose of 125 ml Pyrantel Pamoate. Results showed that, Fe tablet supplement + worm drugs and Fe supplement only for 6 weeks increased Haemoglobin level of anemic teenagers (p < 0,05). Haemoglobin level of Fe supplement group increased 2,8643 gr/dl and that of Fe supplement + worm drugs group increased 3,3593 gr/dl. The increase in haemoglobin level was higher on the group of Fe supplement + worm drugs than that of the other group. The difference in increasing the Haemoglobin level in both group are not statistically significant ( p. 0,05). However it does not mean that the results are is meaningless in the view of clinical aspects. Keywords : Nutrition Anemia, Fe supplement, worm drugs.
