Abstract

A study on formulation of healthy drink from the dried rinds of asam kandis (Garcinia cowa, Roxb.) to find the best formula for asam kandis formulation has been done. Three formulas were prepared, each contained 24,5 % of the aethanolic extract of the dried rinds; formula I (F1) was made as instant powder and formula II (F2) as effervescent granules. Formula III (F3) was made as powdered dried rinds of asam kandis. F1 and F3 were dissolved in hot water before use, and F2 in cold water. The powder and the reconstituted solution were then submitted to evaluation procedures. The total acid content of F1 and F2 were determined by titrimetric method. Results showed that all formulas physically fulfilled the requirements, except for particle size distribution of F2. Meanwhile, the recovery of (-)-Hydroxycitric acid/HCA (total acid) level of F1 is higher than of F3 after reconstitution.
