Abstract

An experimental study has been done in rats to verify the inflammatory activity of Curcuma domestica Val. ethanolic extract About 25 rats were grouped randomly into 5 groups of animals. The experiment was conducted in the following manners. As a control group (group X) were fed with 1 ml/100g body weight of 0.5% NaCMC suspension in 0.9% NaCl, another groups (A, B, C, and D) were fed with 1 ml/100g body weight of (100, 250, 500 and 1000) mg/kg body weight suspension of extract. One hour later, to induce the inflammatory, all rats were injected with 0.2 ml of 1 % caragen suspension intracutan. The antiinflammatory effect were evaluated by measuring the left hind paw volume with platysmometer. The assesment was done in each rats of all groups, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 hours after inflammatory induction. The resuts showed that were significant difference between the effect of tumeric ethanol extract as anti inflammation in all dosages. The hight dose (1000 mg/kg) were can inhibit the inflammation 78,37%. On conclution of this research, the tumeric ethanolic extract heve anti inflammation effect.
