Abstract

The use of simulation model as a tool for a system analysis is becoming increasingly popular to persons working in many disciplines. This is because it offers a broad and highly functional approach for simulation of the system, which consequently can be used in analyzing and getting better undersfanding about the systems. In the other hand, recent technologies support in offering a powerful personal computer and varieties of simulation software at inexpensive price, A model of rice irrigation water requirement and distribution was developed using "Professional Dynamo Plus" software. Model formulation included several factors related to rice water requirement and irrigation efficiency. This model was constructed to calculate rice water requirement and irrigation water distribution based on climate situation and water level at rice-field. Model was applied to calculate rice water requirement and irrigation water distribution at Partupangan lrrigation System, Pasaman West Sumatra. Model behavioral validation show an agreement befween the model-behavior and the behavior of the real system. Model also responded to the change of parameters as it should to be and intended. Keyword : model, simulation, water requirement
