Abstract

The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorder increases progressively with age and the symptoms are common occurance on 2O% of general practitioner consultations. Osteoarthritis is one of the most chronic conditions among degenerative joint disorder in the age over 60 years. Chronic joint conditions among degeneratif joint disorder in individual over the age of 60 years in a prospective study has been evaluated during period January 1993 until December 1994. On rheumatic disorder in rheumatic cases attending the outpatient Rheumatology Subdivision of Dept. ofInternal Medicine a total of 363 rheumatic joint disorder has been diagnosed; osieoarthritis was found 131 (36.0880) and non articular rheumatism 56 parienrs (TS.43Vo). Almost 387o patients of total cases of osteoarthritis, the rnean age was more than 60 years, the most frequent was located in the knee. The goals of the treatment were to relief the patients of the pain, restore the joint functional capacity, minimize the joint destructions and increased the quality of life.
