Abstract

A study on Organic acid excretion and production has been conducted on upland rice lines differing in tolerance to aluminum toxicity. Several lines used in the study include Krowal (Al tolerant and P efficient lines), Ketombol (Al-tolerant, P-inefficient lines), and IR-64 and Jatiluhur (Al-sensitive, P-inefficient lines), Three days old seedlings were grown for 14 days in Yoshida nutrient solution with different levels of Al and P. Observation was conducted for studi organic acid exudation and production. This study showed that Al-stress and low P induced the excretion and production of the oxalic acid , and that the excretion and production of the Al tolerance lines was higher than theAl susceptible.
