Abstract

The objective of this research are to determine and to analyse social economic factor that affected health status in Indonesia. Health status was respresented by Infant Mortality Rate and Life Expectancy. Social Economic factor consist of district government’s health budget (APBD), female’s means years of schooling, household expenditure, percentage of household with access to clean water, percentage of people with access to health facilities. The data sources were cross section data from the social economic survey (Susenas) 2002. The result showed that all of social economic variable have negative correlation with the Infant Mortality Rate and positive corrrelation with Life Expectancy. Percentage of people with access to health facilities couldn’t determine its affect to health status, but the other variables showed significantly result in regression models. Female’s means years of schooling was the variable which contributed most largerly to health status, following by household expenditure, district government’s health budget (APBD), and the least contribute given by percentage of household with access to clean water.
