Abstract

The taxonomic study of Nepenthes (Nepenthaceae) natural hybrid in Kerinci was carried out from September 2005 until December 2006. The descriptive method with survey and direct collection was used in this study. The result of identification indicated that there were 6 (six) species of Nepenthes i.e. N. ampullaria Jack, N. gracilis Korth., N. mirabilis (Lour.) Druce, N. reinwardtiana Miq., N. spathulata Danser and N. tobaica Danser. Based on analysis of hybrid indices, scattered plot and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on morphological characters of putative parental and hybrid individuals suggested that there were 4 (four) natural hybrid detected in Kerinci, those were N. ampullaria X N. mirabilis, N. ampullaria X N. reinwardtiana, N. ampullaria X N. spathulata dan N. reinwardtiana X N. tobaica. There was a new finding hybrid, i.e. between N. ampullaria X N. spathulata in Kerinci. It was difficult to detect the hybrid zone of individuals of putative parents & hybrids at the study site.
