Abstract
CH4 is the dominant gas released from a landfill that could increase global warming if released into the atmosphere. This study was conducted to analyze the concentration of CH4 in ambient air LPA Sampah Air Dingin Padang. Concentration of CH4 on the day and night for each measurement point is equal to 3.532 ppm and 3.886 ppm in the active zone; 2.412 ppm and 3.316 ppm in non-active zone; 1.726 ppm and 1.495 ppm in residential areas are scavengers; 0.216 ppm and 0.633 ppm in the region institutions; 0.699 ppm and 1.012 ppm in residential areas; and 0.389 ppm and 0.507 ppm in the region nearby housing complex. Concentration of CH4 at night is generally larger than during the day with a ratio of 1.1 to 2.5 except for the measurements in residential areas are scavengers that have a ratio of 0.87. This is influenced by the accumulation of waste and atmospheric stability. Concentration of CH4 in the LPA concentrations greater than outside the LPA with a ratio of 2-11. Pebedaan is influenced by the distance from emission sources, meteorological conditions, and the presence of green barrier. Meteorological parameters that affect concentration of CH4 in ambient air is air temperature, wind direction and speed, and atmospheric stability.
