Abstract
Pharamacological effect of the ethanolic extract of Talinum Triangulare (Jacq.) Willd leaves and young stems using : Automatic Hole Board on male Swiss mice and Wistar Rats had been studies. Preliminary screening showed pronounced central nervous system excitation in male mice. Oral doses of 8.89 to 2.00 g/kg of body weight showed significant increase in spontaneous motor activity and exploratory behavior in both mice and rats, decrease the hypnotic effect of barbiturate and protected the ptosis effect induced by reserpin. The minimum effective oral doses were 1.33 g/kg of body weight for male mice and 0.89 g/kg of body weight for male rats.
