Abstract
THE EFFECT OF GIVING SOME SUPER BIONIC FERTILIZER CONCENTRATION AND TYPE OF MULCH ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF WATERMELON (Citrullus vulgaris Schard)
ABSTRACT
Experiments on the influence of how the concentration of super bionic fertilizer and mulch types have been implemented in the Nagari Ketaping, Kecamatan Batang anai, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman with a height of 2 m dpl from July until September 2011. Purpose of this experiment are (1) to obtain concentration of super bionic fertilizer and type mulch best on growth and yield of watermelon; (2) to get the best super bionic fertilizer concentrations of the growth and yield of watermelon; (3) to get the best type of mulch on growth and yield watermelon plants.
Shaped factorial experiment in randomized block design with 2 factors and 3 groups. The first factor is the some super bionic fertilizer concentration (0%, 0,4%, 0,8%, 1,2%). The second factor is some kind of mulch (no mulch, black plastic silverware, rice straw). The observations mad are the longest leaf length, leaf width of the widest, the number of male flowers per plant, number of female flowers per plant, age of first harvest, fruit weight, dry weight of roots. Observations data were analyzed with a test range of F and F count if the treatment is greater than F table 5% followed with Duncant’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) by a test at level 5%.
The experimental results showed thar giving of the concentration of fertilizer 0,8% super bionic and silver black plastic mulch give the best effect on the length of the longest laef, number of male flowers per plant and friut weight.
