Abstract

The Effectiveness Of Leadership Style At International Non- Profit Organization’s Leaders : A Case Study Of MercyCorp’s Sumatera Health School Program Thesis By : Mastriadi Thesis Advisor : DR. Rahmi Fahmi, SE, MBA ABSTRACT Many managers that have moved from a profit organization into a leading position within Non-Profit Organization (NPO) have faced great opposition from the members when trying to adopt his or her leadership style. There is a large difference between profit organization and non-profit organization in regards to their personally characteristics or leadership skill. This thesis aims to find out the appropriate leadership style within NPO’s by using Leader Adaptability Style Inventory (LASI), with MercyCorps as the object. The use of high supportive behavior might be due to both the fact that they have such close relationships between leaders and followers that the leaders feel uncomfortable adopting a low task/low relationship style, as that could instead damage the close relationship and lead to lower motivation and commitment from the follower. There are three required specific skills for a leader in Mercy Corp’s communication skill, management skill and motivating and influencing others. Key words: NPO, Leadership, LASI
