Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus is a disease caused by elevated levels of sugar (glucose) levels due to insulin deficiency, in which the body does not produce enough insulin. Prevalence Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia 1,1%. Number of this Diabetes Mellitus patient would continuously grow, if it is not prevention and is not managed well, hence Diabetes Mellitus can generate various complication. The purpose of this study is to know the factors which associated with behavior Diabates Mellitus prevention of complications in patients with Diabetes Mellitus M.Djamil hospital public government Padang in 2012.
This study use cross-sectional design. The population is taken from all patients comemedicinizeing in Polyclinic of Interne Medicine of DR.M.Djamil which amount 147 people. The sampel of this study is patient who medicinize in M.Djamil hospital public government Padang which amount to 65 people.the sampling technique used is systematic random sampling. Data colecting by interview which use kuisioner. Analizing data with univariat and bivariat by using chi-square test which present on table, diagram and narasi.
Result of research showed that 55,4% responder with low knowledge, 7,7% responder with negative attitude on preventive the Diabetes Mellitus complication, 43,1% responder family don’t share on preventive the Diabetes Mellitus complications and 16,9% responder with not good behaviour on preventive the Diabetes Mellitus complications. Variables in this study that knowledge have a significant relationship, behaviour and the role of family have a significant relationship with preventive Diabetes Mellitus. Expected to Diabetes Mellitus patients who come for treatment to M.Djamil hospital public government Padang to keep control of the disease so as not to complicationsand for M.Djamil hospital public government Padang is expected to providing information to patients about what is Diabetes Mellitus, Diabetes Mellitus cause, and how to prevent it in order to avoid complications.
