In: Seminar Nasional "Pengembangan Pertanian Terpadu Berbasis Organik Menuju Pembangunan Pertanian Berkelanjutan", 11 Juli 2011, Padang.
Abstract
A research about analyses of several soil physical properties of Ultisols in four locations (Limau Manis, Lubuk Minturun in Padang, Manggis in Agam Regency, and Tanjung Pati in 50 Kota Regency) was conducted in Soil Laboratory Andalas University, Padang. This research was aimed to evaluate physical characteristics of Ultisols in four locations in West Sumatra. Survey method was employed for this research. Soils were randomly sampled in each location on relatively level (≤ 3%) area. Samples were taken from two (0-10 and 10-20 cm) depths. Disturbed soil samples for texture, organic matter, and pore size distribution of soils as well as undisturbed soil samples for bulk density, total pore, and hydraulic conductivity of soils were sampled on both depths. Data resulted showed that there was no variation in the criteria of soil texture (clay), BD (medium), and total pore (medium) from the four locations. Soil organic matter content was categorized as low to medium and hydraulic conductivity was slow to medium. Aeration pore or fast drainage pore and slow drainage pore were very low to medium, and available water pore was low to high.
