Relationship Communication Terapeutic Nurse With The Level Anxiety In
Patients Pre Operative in Irna Bedah RSUP Dr. M.Djamil Padang
Preoperative anxiety in patients is a preoperative psychological reactions
as a new experience for patients undergoing surgery. Therapeutic communication
is communication with a nurse who carried a particular technique which has a
healing effect, and provide a sense of security and comfort so as to reduce
anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of therapeutic
communication with the nurse patient preoperative anxiety levels. This type of
research is a descriptive analytic by design cross sectional study. In this study the
sample size was 62 patients in Irna Bedah RSUP Dr.M.Djamil Padang in August
2013 to April 2014. The results showed preoperative patient anxiety mild anxiety
(33.9%), moderate anxiety (46.8%), and severe anxiety (19.4%), while the nurses
were good therapeutic communication (56.5%) and therapeutic communication
nurses unfavorable (43.5%). The test results showed no statistically significant
association between the therapeutic communication nurses with patients
preoperative anxiety level with p = 0.006. The results of this study recommend the
hospital institution that therapeutic communication can be implemented in
hospitals to reduce patient anxiety, especially preoperative therapeutic
communication in the working phase.
