Abstract
ABSTRACT SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ZEOLITE ZSM-5 FROM NATURAL INGREDIENTS WITH HYDROTHERMAL METHOD BY USING SEA WATER By : Wahyuni (1010413047) Dr. Upita Septiani, M.Si dan Prof. Dr. Syukri Arief, M.Eng Synthesis of zeolite ZSM-5 using natural ingredients, rice husk ash by hydrothermal method using sea water has been carried out. The used rice husk ash was melted using NaOH at a temperature of 550 oC. Alkaline hydrothermal processes in zeolite synthesis was performed with a temperature range of 125 - 1700C. Product of synthesis were characterized using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) combined with EDX. From the characterization results indicated that the formation of zeolite will better when increase of temperature and the use of sea water as a solvent. From the results of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) using either the temperature variations of sea water and distilled water showed the formation of zeolite ZSM-5.
