In the past decade, amount of households headed by women in Indonesia continues to show increased. In the Riau Islands Province, more than 80% of the administration is coastal villages and most of them poor, and more than 50% of the poor are women vulnerable to socio-economic as head of household. This research aimed to find out the strategy of sustainable livelihood of fishing households headed by women.
Type of this study is an exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative and quantitative approach to sample households with purposive sampling. Respondents in this study were all female-headed fishermen households who‟s meet the criteria by consideration of women more know about the livelihood of households headed by women. Number of the households analysis unit is 29 households. Sustainability and Exploratory Social Network Analysis made to find the main actor of the livelihoods asset dimensions. The power of main actor dimensions made reason to show a suitable strategy for the sustainable livelihoods of fishermen households headed by women.
The results of this study concluded that the assets of the personal leadership of women into key dimensions that affect sustainable livelihoods of fishermen, especially in households headed by women in rural and agricultural development in a broader context. From of the six dimensions of livelihood assets known the leadership asset (71,93) and personal asset (60,34) show the status of sustainable enough and the other asset showed unsustainable is social asset (26,87), human resources asset (27,59), financial assets (31,86) and physical asset (36.38). While sustainable livelihoods based on households showed very low numbers where 72.41% of households do not show continuity, 17.24% less sustainable, 3.45% is quite sustainable. For the households have access to the organization and empowerment from government showed very sustainable (6,90). The conclusion is the based and strong personal leadership assets, sustainable livelihoods will being created in households headed by women when getting the right support and intervention from the government. Toward, empowerment the based of personal and leadership assets need for considered in efforts to reduced poverty.
