Abstract

The potato cultivar Atlantic was transformed through cocultivation Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBH 4404 carrying plasmid pRAL 4404 and biner plasmid pBICH 491. The T-DNA of the biner plasmid carrying nptII gene and cp-PVY gene. These cocultivation yield seven different transgenic plants. The different types of cp-PVY transgenic Atlantic were tested for their field perform-ance. The transgenic plants were grown in insect proof screenhouse. The objective of the experiment was to evaluate cp-PVY expression and field performance of seven cp-PVY transgenic line. The experiment were held at the Ornamental Experiment Station, Cipanas, West Java. The result indicated that cp-PVY gene did not transcript or translate coat protein of PVY; all the transgenic lines tested were free of PVX, but showed positive to PVY; the transgenic lines and cv. Atlantic respons were not different in morphology characters, growth components, as well as starch and reduced sugar; all the transgenic lines and cv. Atlantic showed were not different in weight and number of tuber. Key words: phenotypic performance, cp-PVY, transgenic line
