Abstract

A field experiment to study the effect of dosages of boka¬shi technology EM-4 on the growth of young gambir plant was conducted at Field Experiment Station of Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University Padang during the period of April to October 2002. The objective of the experiment was to investigate the effect of bokashi on the growth of gambir up to six months in the field. Treatments were ar¬ranged in Randomized Block Design with six treatments and four replications. Four plants were observed for each treatment. Treatments were dosages of bokashi applied namely: A. without bokashi application (control), B. 2.5 ton/ha, C. 5.0 ton/ha, D. 7.5 ton/ha, E. 10.0 ton/ha, and F 12.5 ton/ha. Data were collected on plant height, length and width of leaf, number of primary branches, and num¬ber of leaves at six months after treatment. Data were analyzed using F test and then followed by DNMRT at 5% significant level. Result indicated that there was a signifi¬cant effect of dosages of bokashi on plant height, and number of leaves of gambir, where dosages of 7.5 to 12.5 ton/ha gave a better result. It is suggested to apply bokashi to young gambir plant at a dosage of 7.5 ton/ha. Key words: gambir, bokashi
