Abstract

Experiment to investigate the vegetative propagation ef¬fort of enau (Arenga pinnata (Wumrb)Merr.) by shoot re¬generation in vitro was done from May to October 2001 at tissue culture laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, An¬dalas University, Padang. The experiment studies about combination concentration of Auxin and Cytokinin plant growth regulator that exactly support regeneration of shootlet of enau explant to get plantlet by in vitro. The ex¬periment used Completely Ramdomized Design (CRD) with four (4) replications. Stage regeneration shootlet on Woody Plant Medium (WPM) with combination concen¬tration Auxin and Cytokinin plant growth regulator, were seven (7) levels consist of: (E0) Oppm NAA ± 0,00 ppm BAP; (El) 0,00 ppm NAA + 0.50 ppm BAP; (E2) 0.50 ppm NAA + 0,00 ppm BAP; (E3) 0.50 ppm NAA + 0.50 ppm BAP ; (E4) 0.00 ppm NAA + 1.00 ppm BAP; (ES) 0.50 ppm NAA + 1.00 ppm BAP; dan (E6) 1.00 ppm NAA + 1.00 ppm BAP. Combination concentration 1.00 ppm NAA + 1.00 ppm BAP (E6) gave the best result than any another treatment that support growth to get explant life and callus formation but was not able to support the growth of explant to get shootlet, rootlet and plantlet in first experiment stage.
