Abstract

This experiment was conducted at farmer’s field Koto Panjang, Koto Tangah Padang, from Juni to October 2008. The objective of this experiment was to find transplanting method on growth and yield of rice grown with SRI technology and to find rice cultivar to increse rice yield. This experiment was was a two-way factorial design in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replicates. The first factor was rice cultivar (Cisokan, Batang Piaman, and IR64). The second factor was transplanting method (vertical and horizontal orientation of roots). Results showed that rice cultivar Cisokan planted with horizontal orientation of roots produced best rice growth and yield. Cultivar Cisokan produced more tillers than other cultivars. Rice seedlings grown with horizontal orientation of roots grew better than those of rice grown with vertical ones. Keywords: method seedling, SRI technology
