Abstract

An experiment to study the effect of plant growth regulator (PGR) on the growth of one-leafed stem cut-ting of tea was conducted in the farmer field in Parabek Ladang Laweh II Kecamatan Banuhampu Sungai Puar Kabupaten Agam, and the laboratory of Dept. of Agronomy Faculty of Agriculture Andalas University during the period of January to April 1998. The objective of the experiment was to obtain the best plant growth of one leafed stem cutting of tea. Treatments were arranged in Randomized Block Design with six treatments and four replications. Treatments were : control (without PGR (A); IBA at concentration of 0.2% (B), Kinetin at concentration of 0.2% (C), Rootone F at concentration of 5% (D), young coconut milk at concentration of 25% (E), and urine of Eries Holland Cattle at concentration of l3% (F)'Parameter observed were percentage of shoot formation, number of leaf, percentage of rooted shoot, and percentage of successful stem cutting. Data were analyzed tatistically using F test and the Duncan's New Multiple Range Test of 5% level. Results indicated that the application of plant growth regulators have no significant effect on percentage of shoot formation, number of leaf and percentage of successful stem cutting, but there was a significant on percentage of rooted shoot. Rootone F as the better result to the growth of one-leafed stem cutting of tea.
