Abstract
The objective of this study was to observe the effect of VAM and the rate of water application on P absorpiion and Corn yield. This study was conducted in the green house, Andalas University, Indonesia by using split plot design. The treatment was consisted of 5 levels of water application as main factor and 2 rates of VAM as sub factor. This research showed that there was no interaction between the rate of water application and VAM to available soil P. Available soil P was affected only by the rate of water applicaiion in which rhe application of 839.7 mm.min-1 showed the highest available soil P (11.41 g.pot- 1). This study also showed-tire quadratic relationship between the rate of water application and VAM on P absorption. The nnaximum p absorption (136.87 mg.pot-1; was obtained at water application of 750 mm.min-1 and 100 g.pot-1 of VAM. on the other hand without vAM and with the water rate of 750 mm.min-1, the absorption of p was obtained (74.1mg.pot-1). The presence of vAM also showed that the corn grow is better than that of without VAM on all level of water application. Similar result was also found in the yield of corn. The maximum corn yield (48 g.pot-1) was observed with water application of 943 mm.min-1, without VAM innoculation and withihe water application of 1174-5 mm.min-1, the maximum corn yield was 28.7 g.pot-1. In conclusion, 100 g.pot-1 VAM application can increase 48% of P absorption and 67% of corn yield compared to without VAM. Additionally the present of VAM can increase the efficiency of water (20%) in order to increase the maximum yield.
