Abstract

A study on formulation of sustained release tablet using chlorpheniramine maleat as a model compound with pharmacoat 606 and eudragit L100 as coating agent has been carried out. The tablet was formulated by using granule coating method and was subjected to in vitro evaluations. The water uptake capacity of the coated tablet and the uncoated were determined ; the uncoated granule and the uncoated tablet showed higher water uptake-capacity. The dissolution testing showed that the granules coated with 10% w/w pharmacoat 606 and Eudragit L100 (1:5) can be considered for a sustained release delivery system.
