Abstract

A study on an antidiarrhoea activity if ethanolic extract from the leave of Syzygium cumini Skeels on male white mice had been undertaken. Administration the extract orally with increasing doses showed a significant difference (P<0.05) in the intestinal transit effect of 5% norit suspension. Data analysis using T assay indicated that the extract with the dose of ≥ 100 mg/kg BW showed significant effect (P<0.05) in comparison to control. The administration of extract with the dose of 200 mg/kg BW showed similar effect with a standard drug Loperamide HCl 5 mg/kg BW.
