Abstract

This writing discusses markedness of prohibition in Pariaman variation of Minangkabau language. This study attemps to describe the markedness, position of markedness, and characteristics of the prohibition. The method used in this study is distributional method and being followed with permutation technique , substitution, deletion technique, read marker technique, extention technique, and parapharse technique. Negative markedness jan usually appears in initial position, except in topical sentence, and always preceed verb which function as predicate subtitution. Characteristics found prohibition of Pariaman language are the use of affective words nda? and intensifier lo both of these affective words always found is final position . There are two patterns of probihition; accusative nominative and non-accusative nominative .
