Abstract
The present study is concerned with numerical madeling of dryng process of crumb rubber. The modeling is caried out by applying mass and heat balances to a 'thin layer'. The analysis of deep-bed dryng is accomplished by thin-Iayers superposition. The mathematical formulation results in a set of partial differential equations. This set of equations is then solved simultaneously using the finite difference and implicit Euler methods. The results of solid temperature simulation show a good agreement with experimental data found in the litterature. A discrepancy reveals in drying kinetics simulation, especially in the first stage of drying.
