Abstract

An experiment to study the effect of internode location and length of darkening on seedling growth of coffee robusta (Coffea robusta) was carried out in shade house of Faculty of Agriculture Andalas University Padang during the period of August to December 1999. The objective of the experiment was to find the best interaction of inter- node location and length of darkening on seedling growth of coffee. Two factors experiment was arranged factori- ally in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Factor A is internode location ( second and the third from young teaf) and factor B is length ofdarkening ( 3,5,7,9, and ll days ). Observed data were; time of budding, length of bud, number of leaf, and number of root. The result showed that there was no interaction between internode location anrl length of darkening on seedling growth of coffee robusta, however, length of darkening induced the growth of bud.
