Abstract
The experiment was designed to study the effect of substitution of nature grass (NG) with ammonia treated palm pressed fiber (AT-PPF) in the ration on performance of local cattle (Pesisir Selatan Cattle). Four local cattle (1.5-2 years old) with initial body weight 103+4 kg involved in the experiment. The experiment was conducted in 4x4 Latin square design, with 4 different diets as treatment (A:50%i{ G, B:33,33yo NG +16,67yo AT-PPF , C:16,67%0NG + 33,33yo AT-PPF and D:50% AT-ppF) plus 50yo concentrate. Feed intake; water intake; digestibility of dry matter (DM), organic mattei (OM), crude protein (Cp), crude fiber (CF), ether extract (EE); digestibility of fiber fraction (NDF, ADF and hemicellulosa) ; nit.og.11 retention ; biological value of protein; daily gain and economic efficiency were observed in this study. The results of experiment showed that: l). Substitution of nature grass with AT-ppFhad no significant effect on feed intake, N retention , biological value and daily gain. 2). Increased utilization of AT-ppF in the ration resulted in decreasing of digestibility of DM, oM, cF and cP and fiber fraction (ADF& NDF). 3). water consumption was increased following by of addition AT-PPF. 4). All of experimental diets have given economic advances, where utilization of l6,67vo nature grass + 33,33o/o AT-ppF + 50o/o concentrate (c ration) had highest economic advances, followed by B, A and D ration, respectively Key word : Palm press fiber, cattle performance and treatment ammonia.
