Abstract

Studies of social change in he Minangkabau are quite a lot so far various conclusions and assumptions arase from those studies. Most of them sustain the picture of that social changes. Two variable come up in there studies are function and matrilineal kinship ties. Function, in this sense, mean process of distribution and property redistribution of communal property rights. Kinship ties emphasize kind of relationship established among the group members. Changes of function do not mean to change kinsip ties or in another way around. The case taken in this study is Koto Tangah community. They are studied by means of functional structural perspective.
