Abstract

The agrarian revolution carried out around the second and the third decades of the twentieth century in Kerinci appeared. Most as a result of Colonial policies, capitalists' penetration, and money economy--- factors that caused social and cultural changes in the rural society. One of the important characteristics of the agrarian revolution is the strengthening the economic role of people's farms rooted in a tradition oriented toward the world commercial market. The pattern of induk semang (master) - anak ladang (farm labor) relationship is tradisionally instituted became more establisihed after the agrarian revolution. The understanding of the induk seeming - anak ladang relationship in the organization of agricultural production is one of the important aspects that supports our knowledge about the social structure and the dynamic of rural society in the recent Kerinci
