Abstract

This paper is an attempt to analyze some social phenomena pertaining to the expansion of Indonesian vocabulary. On one hand,it is conceivable that language planners/language engineer are more concerned with the establishment of a systematic corpus of a language; but on the other hand, language users are confronted to the real use of the living language. This paper argues that some efforts of language planning that bridge the gap between the world of language planners/language engineers and that of language users, of whom the latter are the target of the implementation of language planning, would be able to minimize the occurrence of any verbal dislocation. This paper also argues that social acceptance is also one of the significant factors that should be taken into consideration by language planners/language engineers.(Language planning/ Sociolinguistics/Language behavior)
