Abstract

Land in under coconut tree is not used yet in Padang especially and West Sumatera generally because of farmer community do not yet have suitable technology for this area. While the result of Zubaidah (2002) research reported that by using conservation tillage or no tillage had gotten the increase of hybride corn yield as much as 6.54 ton per hectar. This activity have the advantage result as much as2,9 million rupiahs per year. One of programe of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi is the programe of community service. By doing the programe that we use technology of conservation tillage or no tillage fbr land in under coconut tree in Pauh district to grow hybride corn in demonstration plot. The activity was conducted demonstration plots method with 3 treatments ie conventional tillage, conservation tillage and no tillage. Plot msasure is 3 m x 6 m : 18 m2 and three replications. Plots was planted by hybride corn. Beside that extension course was also done in the side of demontration plots by collected Sinar Baru farmer group and informal and formal leaders at Pauh Distrist Padang City. Along as activities lasted Sinar Baru farmers community and informer rural leader showed that most enthusiasm of this activity. Result of demonstration plot showed that every treatment is not singnificant for the hybride corn growth. Thus, the tillage will need if the soil is too compact, but for slightly triable soil that tillage is not needed.
