Abstract
Geographic object search is a problem in tourism information system. Geographic object search is used to help Tourists Decision Making. One kind of geographic object search is the object driven search. This reports the results of an effort to implement the object driven search, such : a) Location of a specific object, b) Nearest object to a specific object and c) All objects which don’t exceed a definite distance to a specific object. To implement the object driven search, a spatial database, an user interface and a process design had been created. The spatial database consist of touristic map of Kota Padang. The user interface was used to data entry. Form of SQl commands that implement user requirements was constructed. The design was implemented into MapServer Chameleon Framework using PostGIS, PHP and Apache. Some PostGIS functions were used, such distance, expand and ST_Dwithin function. The software was tested using black box test and touristic map of Kota Padang. The results showed that the software fulfills the user requirements in tourism service.
