Abstract

In Minangkabau Tradition, communication intersociety had been stated in "Kato Nan Ampek". The used "Kato Nan Ampek" as lingual element in Minangkabau language closely relates to the socio-cultural factors of its society For greeting someone who is younger, older people usually call them with greetings waang, kau, angku and the others greeting. But in formal institute or executive institute, greeting verbs also depend on hierarchy position. Can be, the age of the leader whose age is younger than his workers, so in the formal situation we have to call him with "mister' but in reality, greeting condition often is not relevant with the real fact.
