Abstract
Oil Spill Response Information System (OSRIS) is an information system that can be used to provide relevant information to act on any oil spill incident. Two main components in the development of the information system were given special attention i.e. the development of Oil Spill Trajectory Model as well as the OSRIS itself. The Oil Spill Trajectory Model was developed within a Geographic Information System and multimedia’s environment. The implementation of the information system was based on Visual Basic 6.0, ActiveX MapObjects, ArcView, MapInfo and Microsoft HTML libraries. The initial testing of the system shows that the model is capable of predicting threatened marine life due to oil spill. The information provides bye the system may be used for preparing an action plan to reduce the effects of oil spill on marine environment. Keywords : Marine Environment, Oil Spill Trajectory Model, Information System, GIS and Multimedia
