Abstract

The effect of α-mangostin on total cholesterol levels, trigliserida, HDL, and LDL in blood of white male mice induced by high cholesterol diet consist of palm oil and fat with ratio 5:1 during 7 days was studied. The experiment was divided into six groups those were positive control, negative control, the comparison group with given gemfibrozil 156 mg/kg BW, and 3 various doses (30, 100, and 300 mg/kg BW). The total cholesterol, trigliceride, HDL, and LDL was measured at the day 8 by using the enzymatic methode with spectrophotometer UV-VIS. The result of this observation showed that α-mangostin suspension with doses 30, 100, and 300 mg/kg BW could decreased the total cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL levels and increased HDL level from the blood of white mice very significant for each doses (P<0,01).
