Abstract
The influence of longterm used of Connarus grandis leaves ethanolic extract on the rat kidney function had been studied. Rats (Kyoto) were treated with the extract (20 and 80 mg/kg BW) once a day for 3, 7, 14 and 30 consecutive days. The 24 hour urine output was collected and at the end of each treatment, the animals were killed and blood sample were collected. The creatinine clearance and the percentage of kidney function were calculated. Results showed that the creatinine clearance on these rats increase with dose for certain period, but then decrease with time. These indicated that the extract is able to reduce the rat renal function, especially when it is a used at high dose for longer periods. Keywords :
