Abstract

The research about interaction betrveen iron(lll) and tannin has been conducted in its complex tbnn. Tannin is a pol;-phenol cornpound used as additive that added into the prirnarl, paint to inhibit the corrosion process. lron(lll) and tannin fonned a chelate cornplex rvhile the iron(lll) as a center atom and tannin as a ligand w'ere rnixed. The interaction bet*'een thern u,'as studied bl'acid-base titration rnethod using pH rneter. UV-Vis and infra red spectrophotometer. The result showed that the complexes were titrated by' KOH forrning gra,v color cornplex Fe(LH) at pH 2.6i-3.95, tnaroon Fe(LH):-'' ot pH 6.13-6.76 and dark chocolate Fe(LH)36 at pH S,S+-1 0.0i. The absorbtivitv spectra of UV-Vis of lron(lll) and tannin cornplex lolned at the rvavelength 500-700 nm.
